What it's About....

As their name indicates, ATC are collectables, a brilliant idea born of the older sports-themed trading cards. The one rule that makes an ATC derives from this: the dimensions of the ATC must be 2.5"x3.5",

First, an ATC mustn't be sold, only exchanged, as the whole essence of these tiny works of art is about artists exchanging their works, either in  person or by snail mail thus meeting many artists and getting exposed to many personal styles.

Second, on the back of each ATC the artist writes part or all of the following information: name, contact information, title of the ATC and number (1/8, 2/8...) if it's part of an edition. By definition ATCs are made in limited numbers, often no more than one of a kind. Unique ATCs are called originals; sets of identical ATCs are called editions and are numbered; sets of ATCs that are based on one theme but that are different are called series. That's all! The above is all you need to know to start making your own ATCs. Common sense dictates that they should be sturdy enough to survive mailing, and of reasonable thickness (unless you specifically want them otherwise. Transparent card sleeves are useful to protect the cards if need be. This is particularly true if they can easily get smudged or if the medium might stick during transport.

Patty - I generally print them on 4x6 paper, but uncheck "fit to paper" on my printers properties. Then the printer will print to the exact size of your 3.5 x 2.5 image. Then I just trim the paper and attach to an artist trading card blank.

LOL well just remind your muses's that artist trading cards must not be square they must measure 2 1/2 x 3 1/2. The idea is that they should look like baseball trading cards in size.

Bloody House

Hi folks,

Some here will remember me.  I've been away on some writing adventures.  I was originally involved on numerous sites, and had to cut back to concentrate on my bread and butter, my published works.  Since I've been gone, I've sold numerous poems and short stories.  Add to this a few books I've had published recently as well as all of the Editing I've been doing on other writer's short stories and Novellas.  My book cover work is advancing too.

The truth behind NETWORKING

Notes about NETWORKING from "The Profitable Artist" by Artspire

Networking

“...is about developing a base of people who will support your efforts and want you to succeed....

Networking is about finding and building relationships with people you care about who are linked to new opportunities, new markets...”

Attend art openings and start making new friends.

“A genuine interest in other people delivers a genuine interest in you.”

Tip

At the Hang Local, Artist and curator Ty Marshal asked me this question:

Maria, you had a lot of art shows last year. What is your secret?

At that time my only response was networking.

Networking did help me find new opportunities to show my art in different venues,

but I realize that I didn't five a complete answer.

The real "secret" that helps me, and many other professional artists,

to showcase my work is the awareness of the many web sites that publish opportunity listings.

Here are some that I check out weekly:

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to post an update about the Delightful Devas.  Although we are still selling the Delightful Devas as canvas wall hangings, the Devas decided they would like to see more of the world.

As a result, they are now available as beautiful ladies tee shirts as well.  This way they able to get out into the world on a more personal level.  Be sure and stop by the CNY Artists' store in Shoppingtown Mall to see them.  They will be vey happy to see you!
