Four years ago I found a camera in my hands after a personal tragedy, the death of my 18 yr old child of a sudden heart attack. I think my instant addiction to the camera was a message from Sam..telling me that there are still beautiful things in life to see and I should see them...so I do..through the lenses of my cameras. It is my salvation. Since that first day I picked up a camera, I have completed a 2 yr degree in Photography, have earned an ACE designation from Adobe and was a Beta Tester for Photoshop CS5. I am one of 400 Photographers chosen in the US to participate in "Portraits of Love" every year around the holiday season. I am also a member of "Operation Photo Rescue" a global network of photo restoration volunteers. I am the founder of the Oneida Lake Camera Club.

Hi Everyone.
Just letting everyone know that I am a registered eBay trainer and I am now listing on eBay for the general public. I once owned an eBay listing company called Auction Mommas with a friend, however we got so busy that we ran out of space to store the auctions and we really didn't want to get a store front location. We were writing 50-60 auctions a week. But truthfully I miss doing it and so my husband and I decided we would venture back into the biz and just be…

I have been playing at making Smashed China Jewelery and wore this piece to a meeting last night. All the ladies there went crazy over it and fought over who was going to buy it. I finally sold it to one woman for $40 and took orders for 4 more pendents,,,who would have thought!…

Thanks Deborah... I love playing with my photos in photoshop. This is our 1949 Chevy Pickup that my husband and I take to car shows... it makes for a fun foreground and superimpose it onto one of my background photos. I love your profile picture. I am still trying to figure this site out, but am having fun doing it.

Hi folks,
Some here will remember me. I've been away on some writing adventures. I was originally involved on numerous sites, and had to cut back to concentrate on my bread and butter, my published works. Since I've been gone, I've sold numerous poems and short stories. Add to this a few books I've had published recently as well as all of the Editing I've been doing on other writer's short stories and Novellas. My book cover work is advancing too.

Notes about NETWORKING from "The Profitable Artist" by Artspire
Networking
“...is about developing a base of people who will support your efforts and want you to succeed....
Networking is about finding and building relationships with people you care about who are linked to new opportunities, new markets...”
Attend art openings and start making new friends.
“A genuine interest in other people delivers a genuine interest in you.”

At the Hang Local, Artist and curator Ty Marshal asked me this question:
Maria, you had a lot of art shows last year. What is your secret?
At that time my only response was networking.
Networking did help me find new opportunities to show my art in different venues,
but I realize that I didn't five a complete answer.
The real "secret" that helps me, and many other professional artists,
to showcase my work is the awareness of the many web sites that publish opportunity listings.
Here are some that I check out weekly:

Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to post an update about the Delightful Devas. Although we are still selling the Delightful Devas as canvas wall hangings, the Devas decided they would like to see more of the world.
As a result, they are now available as beautiful ladies tee shirts as well. This way they able to get out into the world on a more personal level. Be sure and stop by the CNY Artists' store in Shoppingtown Mall to see them. They will be vey happy to see you!

The really cool thing about being an artist is that I can leave my junk all over the house and just call it a "still life".
And guess what????
You can learn how to paint a still life...or how to creatively leave your junk around the house.
